The tree itself grows on average 10 ft. per year, which makes it infinitely more renewable than balsa or any other wood commonly used in surfboards. The boards have solid wood rails which creates a perimeter stringer system.

To make a Timberline board it takes about 10 times the amount of time. Not to mention twice the cost for the materials. The benefit is that it also lasts probably 10 times longer.
